YOU SAY PARTY! WE SAY DIE!
British Columbia’s You Say Party! We Say Die! (aka YSP! WSD!) recently reinvented themselves with their spirited style of New Wave and a new depth of material that can be seen on their third release XXXX, released last month on Paper Bag Records. YSP! WSD! has embraced soul, feeling and rhythm, while still bearing the tenets of their original sound, which caused critics around the globe to embrace the band’s first two albums Hit The Floor! and Lose All Time. Collaborating with producer Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, The New Pornographers), XXXX is their most intensive effort to date. YSP! WSD! will embark on a North American tour in support of XXXX, and are looking forward to returning to the US for the first time in several years.

THINK ABOUT LIFE

Think About Life is a gargantuan four-headed party machine. At the front, Martin Cesar, also of Dishwasher and Donkey Heart fame, occupies the role of the band’s primary vocal organ and lyricist. The band’s second full-length album, Family, was released initially in Canada in May 2009 on Alien8 Recordings to wide acclaim. With their album gaining fans amongst their peers, they’ve been invited to tour with several great bands, including Franz Ferdinand, Ratatat, Stars, Wolf Parade, Art Brut, You Say Party! We Say Die!, Ponytail and Land of Talk, amongst several others. Family was released October 13th 2009 in the US via Alien8 Recordings and is slated for an October 27th 2009 release in Japan on Escalator Records. In the meantime, the band is preparing a Canadian tour in November 2009, a debut tour in Brazil in December and a series of extensive tours of North America and Europe in the first half of 2010.  Stay tuned!

LITTLE GIRLS
Word about Toronto’s Little Girls started circulating earlier this year via some early blog attention from songs discovered on the band's MySpace and the subsequent release of their Tambourine EP and 12" on Brooklyn label Mexican Summer.  The band’s debut spans from the very first Little Girls track ever written to brand new material. The album was recorded only at night in a home studio with most of the songs contributing to an ongoing theme of 'growing up' and has received glowing reviews across the board from
Pitchfork, The Fader and Exclaim!, among others. The band toured has played several dates with Japandroids, and was asked to perform at the Woodsist/Captured Tracks Festival in NYC alongside Crystal Stilts, Vivian Girls, Kurt Vile and Thee Oh Sees among others and played this year’s CMJ Music Marathon in NYC.

JOB: Community Manager for yelp.com #prjobs #smjobs

This was sent to me, not sure details, follow up if you are interested. I think it pays $50,000+ but I am not sure. Good luck!
________________________________________________________

I hope this email finds you well! I'm hoping you might be able to help me. I'm currently searching for a Community Manager for Yelp.com in Toronto.

We launched our site in Canada a few months ago and Toronto is one of our targeted cities. We are looking for a unique individual to 'own' this city and foster a community of avid Yelpers. The ideal candidate is someone who writes well and is very "in the know" about Toronto (its hidden gems and hot spots). Our current Community Managers come from a variety of backgrounds but they all have that "light up the room" sort of quality about them.

Do you know anyone in Toronto like this? Does this even describe you? I'd love to hear from you!

Cheers,
Susan Loh

Beauty itself. You're a beauty.

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend.

Beauty itself

You are beauty itself. Spend your days revealing that beauty more fully in an infinitely expanding number of ways.

There is nothing to fear. For nothing can diminish the true beauty at the heart of you.

How is it that you're able to recognize beauty when you see it? Because that beauty resonates with the beauty that is you, and you know it, and you feel it.

Live from a perspective of beauty, for it is your most authentic nature. See each circumstance as an opportunity to express the unique beauty that is your life.

What could possibly be more beautiful than the ability to experience and comprehend beauty? That is who you are, and that is what you do.

Live the miracle that is the beauty that is you. Give your beauty to life, and it all grows more beautiful.

The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem, almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class
and had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar.   He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full.  They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand.  The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor,   as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things - family,
children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions –
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else --The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,'  He continued,
there is no room for  the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Please share this with other "Golf Balls"
I just did......
